Chapter Nine

Damn books, Kit thought as she lay in bed that night. The guys had done exactly what they said and made dinner, talked about stupid shit like football and the weather, and then sent her off to the bathroom to soak. They had even bought her more bubble bath and shampoo and conditioner so she could really clean up. It was nice, and normal. Well as normal as it could be hiding in the mountains from hitmen who were trying to kill you. That was the latest information they got, and Kit had only known because she overheard a conversation when she was washing the dishes again. The guys thought the water drowned out their voices but it hadn’t. Rumors of several hitmen arriving in Denver had caused quite a buzz today.

Instead of being terrified though, all she could think about was those damn romance books she bought. The men took care of their women and made sure they were safe, and of course, they fell in love. In her situation, she could easily see how it could become a book. One that she hoped had a happy ending—with everyone alive.

But the romance is what she was thinking about laying in her bed. It was easy to put Tank and Sonny into the hero roles and fantasize about them.

Kit groaned and rolled over and thought about the last book she had read and the sex scene she had read repeatedly. This time she put her name and face in the place of the heroine along with Tank and Sonny as the heroes.

Kit felt the warmth surrounding her. She knew Sonny was curved around her back and Tank was lying in front of her. She knew their bodies and could feel their heat. She had waited for this moment for a long time; they had finally come to her when she needed them the most. Now, she was going to be their reward, give them something that no one else had given them, her body, her heart, and her soul.

Before she could speak, Tank spoke in a whispered tone, “Kit, you are so beautiful, baby. It feels like forever since I have been with you and been able to hold you like this. They were wrong, they were all wrong, we were meant to be together.”

Sonny tugged Kit closer to him. She could feel his erection pushing against her butt cheeks. He had his nose in her hair inhaling her sent. Kit looked up at Tank and saw the sincerity in his eyes. She knew they were telling the truth.

“I’m scared,” Kit whispered.

“We know, baby, and we won’t make you do anything you’re not ready to do. We just want to finally claim you as ours, our woman, our wife,” Sonny murmured.

The emotions were playing havoc on Kit as well, so many people questioned their love for one another. But they had saved her from the man who had hunted her.
